Get ready for a melancholic autumn. Olivia Rodrigo, the Grammy-winning artist who gained fame with her 2021 mega-hit “drivers license,” is set to unveil her highly-anticipated second album in September.

Geffen Records announced on Tuesday that the singer-actress is teaming up once again with her trusted collaborator Dan Nigro for the album titled “GUTS,” scheduled for release on September 8. Rodrigo’s debut album, “SOUR,” was a massive success, going multiplatinum and earning her three Grammy Awards.

Rodrigo shared her thoughts on the upcoming album in a press release, saying, “For me, this album is an exploration of the challenges of growing up and discovering my identity at this stage of my life. Between the ages of 18 and 20, I feel like I aged a decade—an intense period of self-discovery and change. I believe these experiences are a natural part of personal growth, and I hope the album captures that sentiment.”

The lead single from Rodrigo’s second album, “GUTS,” titled “vampire,” will be released on Friday, June 30.

In January 2021, Rodrigo took the music world by storm with the release of “drivers license,” a powerful pop ballad. It skyrocketed to the top of the Billboard 100 chart, where it remained for eight consecutive weeks. The song also achieved a historic milestone by amassing 80 million streams on Spotify within just seven days—an unprecedented feat. Notably, it even inspired a viral parody sketch on “Saturday Night Live” featuring Bridgerton star Regé-Jean Page.

Making history, Olivia Rodrigo received a remarkable seven Grammy Award nominations, an achievement that had never been accomplished by a Filipina artist before. Notably, she received nominations in all four of the major categories. Ultimately, she won three Grammy Awards, solidifying her talent and success in the music industry. She took home the prestigious titles of Best New Artist, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Pop Solo Performance for her hit single “drivers license.”

Meanwhile, Rodrigo’s collaborator, Dan Nigro, who was previously a member of the band As Tall As Lions, has an impressive track record of producing records for renowned artists such as Carly Rae Jepsen and Sky Ferreira. His experience and expertise contribute to the exceptional quality of Rodrigo’s music.
